Go discover the city of Niort by Segway

Created in 2018 and linked to the Mobilboard network, the animation proposed by Benjamin Papot is quite unusual. This young entrepreneur offers the possibility to discover the city of Niort by Segway. Depending on the time and the circuit, he reveals to you the capital city of the Deux-Sèvres like you have never it before!

But what is a Segway?

What an odd two-wheel machine. However, it is easily intuitive even if it might seem otherwise. Once you have both feet on the platform, you just have to slightly lean forward to go ahead and backward to move back. To turn the Segway, use the handles. The initiation is as easy as the advises are precise. Benjamin, who is the manager of Mobilboard Niort, keeps a close eye to our first ride. Head high, looking ahead, riders and motorcyclists will get familiar sensations. The Segway speed being restricted to 6 km/h, there is no risk of a runaway situation. But it is well enough to enjoy a ride at the doors of the Marais poitevin, between the Boinot harbour and the floodgates of Comporté.

Discover Niort and the Marais poitevin by Segway

You have the choice between several starting points and formulas. There are tours lasting from 45 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the budget (starting from 25 euros) and the wishes. Present in Niort upon request, Mobilboard also offers the possibility of testing the small electric vehicle starting from Coulon, in the heart of the Green Venice, as well as Melle in the Deux-Sèvres. The Segway allows you to discover Niort and the riversides of the Sèvre in a different way. Higher than a bike, the electric Segway is very quiet. So quiet that pedestrians didn’t hear us arriving. Only the first gateways require a real effort of concentration and coordination. But with the advises of the instructor, it’s a piece of cake to get past the obstacle.

Guided tours in Niort by Segway for everybody

To “avoid saying stupid things during the trips”, Benjamin Papot carefully prepared each itinerary with the help of Agnès Dupont-Brillatz, a guide speaker MobilBoard Niort’s history expert. Besides the pleasure of discovering an innovating mode of transport, you enjoy the historical and touristic appeal of the city. During the tours with the Segway, you can discover the rich historic, industrial and touristic heritage of Niort. From the “pré Leroy” and its gardens to the Dungeon and including the iconic “place de la Brèche”, Niort will not have any more secret for you.

Don’t hesitate to book your tickets to discover the Marais poitevin’s riches by Segway or during a more traditional guided visit!
