The Green Venice \u2013 a touristic term created in 1902 by Henri Clouzot<\/strong> \u2013 is just a part of the vast Marais poitevin Regional Natural Park<\/strong>. On one side, the Aiguillon Bay<\/strong><\/a> is an internationally important site for bird migration<\/strong><\/a>. On the other side, the dry marsh<\/a> \u2013 created and managed by men over the centuries for agriculture and farming \u2013 represents the largest part of the Marais poitevin. Finally, the wet marsh<\/a> is the most renowned part of the Marais poitevin, a true aquatic maze with, in its easternmost par, the touristic emblem called the Green Venice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But what could have been just a patchwork of canals turned out to be a real asset for the Marais poitevin area. Now, more and more visitors enjoy walking<\/a> across or navigating in the Green Venice and its surroundings.
