The author, Romain Gaillard, is a native of the Marais and resides in Sansais. A lover of this region, he has been exploring it for many years aboard his boat. He knows every corner of it and already shares his outings on his blog, “Le Blog du Marais Poitevin,” and through his photographic work.
Frequently approached by other kayakers or visitors wanting to explore the Marais in a way other than by boat and on longer routes, the idea came to him to offer these 17 new routes, to be done by canoe, kayak, or even paddleboard.
17 routes are presented, from Bazoin to Niort, passing through Damvix, Coulon and Maillé, with detailed technical information such as possible embarkation points, regulations, and trail markers. A total of 135 kilometers of canals and waterways to explore. There’s something for everyone and all skill levels: from a 1.5-hour stroll to a full-day adventure.
