Are you a runner and used to long distances? Are you looking to push your limits in a natural environment with countless long trail-running routes to choose from?

The Marais poitevin is the place for you! Last autumn, the Niort – Marais poitevin – Vallée de la Sèvre Niortaise Tourist Office developed officially-recognised trail-running routes in the area, in partnership with the specialised brand Rossignol.

16 routes have been waymarked across the Tourist Office territory, 10 of which are in the Marais poitevin natural régional park:

  • “Ports and channels” from Arçais,
  • “The Wild Marshland” in Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud,
  • “Traditional Villages of the Marshland” in Saint-Georges-de-Rex,
  • “Forty Days” in Prin-Deyrançon,
  • “The Venise Verte” in Coulon,
  • “The Walkways” in Coulon,
  • “The Alleyways” in Niort,
  • “Along the Sèvre” in Niort,
  • “Through the Foliage” in Niort,
  • “From Wash Houses to castles” in Niort-Surimeau.

In total, runners have 115 km of waymarked trails to choose from! And there’s no risk of getting lost because there is a mobile application devoted to these routes.

You could also choose to take it easy and explore the Marais poitevin on a boat trip for example!
